Welcome to my blog!

July 2023

25th July

Today I've had to update my website, as unfortunately the old site is being closed down.  I hope to meet some of you here and read your comments.

I've just returned from a week at our caravan on the Isle of Wight.  Phil and I have hiked along the Wootton Walk and also up on the Tennyson Trail at Alum Bay.  We'd like to retire to the Island when Phil finishes his working life at the end of 2025, but the down side of this is that we would not see our family so often.  The jury's still out on whether we make the move, but in the meantime we're enjoying as much time as we can at the caravan.

Have you ever had low back pain/spasm?  I've had sacroiliac pain for over 40 years, and dutifully avoid slouching or stooping.  I finally saw a physiotherapist about it this morning.  I explained that I've done 30 minutes of Pilates exercises every morning for the last 15 years and now even do sit-ups to try and strengthen my abdominal muscles.  He said the only exercise that would help is the one I've always avoided - hands on the low back and to lean backwards and repeat about 10 times per day.    We'll see how it goes.  You live and learn!

18th September

I've just returned from a lovely 2 week visit to our caravan on the Isle of  Wight.  The weather has been glorious.  Phil had to jet off to India after the first week on business, and although I spent the second week there on my own I found lots to do.  I'm always more active on the Island, swimming and walking up and down hills, and my legs feel strong.  However, after only a few weeks on the flatlands of Suffolk again those toned calf muscles deteriorate just a little bit.  I can't wait to go back again to St. Helen's in October.
